Karma and the Secret

Karma and the Secret are directly related concepts, interlinked in a obvious yet subtle way. The ancient Indian religion of Hinduism teaches us that karma is the result of cause and effect or as we in the west know it 'You reap what you sow'. So for example your cause is harm the effect is harm on your chosen subject, meaning the result or karma will be harm on you, maybe not right away but certainly at some point. This idea of a universal loop or universal justice can be traced to many different cultures from many different places.

In ancient Egypt the idea of karma is called maat, which roughly translates as manners. The idea was of good manners being working as a mirror back to yourself. In biblical terms it translate as 'Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap' from Galatians VI. It even permeates modern culture, for instance the television series 'My name is Earl' has its central theme based around the idea of redemption from bad karma, which if the rumours are true has it original basis in Scientology. The Matrix films also uses this idea with the speech made by the Merovigian about cause and effect, action and reaction.

So how does all this relate to the Secret? It's contained within the Secret in a very subtle way. The central concept in the Secret is that if you will good things, good things will come your way, eventually. This idea of a time lag is similar in theory to karma, in that bad karma as a result of a negative action doesn't necessarily come directly back to you. Another way in which it is contain in the Secret is in the idea of being kind to someone else elevates your position in the queue to your dreams and wishes, so again time is a factor in the Secrets interpretation of karma.

How does this all fit together, well in reality it’s very hard to keep up with the idea of helping everyone or being very kind all the time. This is especially true in the west, we all saw the film pay it forward and how difficult it was for people to accept help let alone give it. But there is way to achieve this higher echelon of thinking and that is by knowing all that you can know. The melding of the idea of karma into different cultures and religions is a great example of the mysterious things we don't quite understand, how was it that an idea found its way into so many different cultures that never even knew each other existed. So imagine if the answers to all these questions were answered in one book or document. With all of that knowledge we could break the chains of bondage that trap us daily and ascend to a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.

Enoch Tan has done just that. He has combined all of his knowledge from different cultures and religions into one book and subsequently discovered a higher, clearer understanding of us, our place in the world and our place in the universe. You can find out more here:

The Secret in Reality

Many things have been written regarding the secret, some are even written by the contributors of the original book. But many of them fail to engage their audience any more than the original book and when I say engage the audience I mean reveal any further revelations than the original. Many people read the secret and attempted to practice what was inside, which was great but like an unfinished film it doesn’t really work or even make sense. Imagine reading a detective story getting to a pivotal plot twist, turning the page and are greeted by nothing more than blank empty pages. I know for a fact that I would be pretty annoyed and you need only to trawl the internet to see how annoyed people are about the apparent unfinished nature of the secret.
The worst thing about this attitude is the fact that many now call the secret or law of attraction a scam or snake oil and believe me it’s not. Have you ever wondered how someone who is wealthy and suddenly loses all his money, business. His life flushed down the toilet in the blink of an eye can somehow still manage in a short time to regain most of his previous wealth. At first I always used to think that it was because they have wealthy contacts whom help them, but if you really think about it say your friend went out of business and wanted to borrow a substantial amount of money. Would you lend it? Because I know I would think twice before handing it over. So what is it about these people?
It seems to work on everything, for instance I bet everyone reading this has that friend who is good with the ladies or guys. I bet they are no better looking than you, don’t have more money than you and are at times quite obnoxious. So how do they do it? Whether they know it or not they are using the law of attraction to its maximum potential. How they maximise this potential is another thing.
Whereas the secret offered a stripped down, general version of the law of attraction other publications offer a fuller more involved version. The universal life secret offers this more fleshed out version covering how to attract women or men, wealth and much more. Not only does it offer the fleshy version, it also offers more concise instructions on how to utilise this amazing loophole in the contract of life. You can find out more here:

Thinking Successfully

Thinking successfully isn’t just a case of sitting on your toilet or whatever epiphany chamber you use and straining your mind to see yourself as successful. The Secret promised this and more, but if we are all honest with ourselves this would take a lot of effort to achieve. I’m not saying it wouldn’t work, but as I said requires quite a substantial effort as The Secret relies heavily on faith. There is no question that thoughts or ideas do have substance or can affect matter. On September the 11th 2001 the world watch as thousands of people were slain by an unforgivable act of violence, the interesting thing is that at the moment the second plane entered the second tower random number generators around the world stopped giving out random numbers. The collective feeling of grief actually affected the world in a physical way.
The Secret as a theory is fine but when combined with science becomes a king maker. What science can you combine with The Secret though? Well that’s easy if you think about it, the book utilises the human mind and its potential, so the most obvious science would be psychology. The study of the brain or mind has been the hot topic since Freud came up with his mother theory. How we view our own minds is important though and does take us back to The Secret. If you view your mind as an organ of restriction then we fail, whereas if we view it as what it truly is an organ of infinite possibilities then we are well on the road to understanding the mysteries of life.
If you have trouble grasping the idea of own mind being filled with infinite possibilities, as I did, try to remember that your mind or brain only ever uses about 50% at any one time and people like Einstein used about 60%. Does that change your perspective slightly? So imagine if someone gave the tools to unlock some more of your brain’s power. What could you do with that power, remember the phrase, ‘In the kingdom of the blind the one eyed man is king’. By unlocking more your brains potential you can be the one eyed man. If you still don’t believe me, try writing something. Go away and think for 30 minutes about a subject, let you mind wander and then pick something out and focus on it. Once you have done that get a pen and a piece of paper or a computer and write a 400 word article informing people about your chosen topic.
When you finished you have just done something I thought I could never ever do, write, yet here you are reading my article! There are a few packages on the internet offering to unlock that hidden potential in your brain, but Chris D’Cruz offers one of the best. You can find it here:

The Lost Wisdom

The lost wisdom is something that has been fought over by many generations, by many different nations and by many different religions. Consequential it has been pursued by many men who have usually discovered their own mortality or been driven mad before finding it.
If your not familiar with what this elusive and shadowy idea is then it is easily and briefly explained as the pinnacle of human achievement, thousand’s of years of knowledge and wisdom compounded into a simple and concise explanation. Explaining where we came from, where we are going, where our place is in the universe etc... You can look at it as a unifying religion encompassing ideas from all of the worlds religions into one, somewhat like Madame Blavatsky and her theosophical society.
This concept has even made it into modern culture through the book 'The Lost Symbol' by Dan Brown, with the main character chasing around Washington DC trying to discover the hidden wisdom. Going back even further to the adventurer Marco Polo, who after his return from the East and the Kublai Khan gave this quote on his deathbed, 'For I did not tell all I saw, as I feared I would not be believed'. So just what was it Marco Polo saw or discovered that he feared others wouldn't believe tale.
'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne alludes to this hidden wisdom, but does just that 'alludes'. It never really whole-heartedly gives it or releases it. There have been many publications since then that range from furthering the mystery in the book, to trying to uncover it fully. My own theory on the subject is that the secret knowledge is already known to us, locked away somewhere in our psyche waiting to be discovered.
EFT is fast becoming a natural tool to unlock this collective wisdom in us. Its kind of a dry acupuncture used to quell phobias, beat addictions and various other conditions. But its true treasure lies in the ability to unlock more and more of your own potential with its application. I wouldn't presume to tell you that this is the panacea you have been waiting for, but my own experience with EFT is that it can definitely aid you in any aspect of your life, career, love, money etc...

Does the Secret work?

Many people have come away from the secret feeling short changed or cheated. The main reason for this is that book whilst very good in outlining the bare bones basics of the concept, doesn't really go into that much detail. It leaves a lot of information out and ends up promising a lot but actually giving very little away. If you read the book though this is exactly what it promises not to do. Promising to make you the reader one of the small percentage of wealthy, loved and truly happy people in the world. Personally I don't think you need all those things to be happy, but they would certainly help!

I think though that the Secret does work, in fact I know it does. If it didn't I wouldn't have the confidence to be writing this now. The main problem is that the Secret doesn't just work on its own, it needs more than what is given. To say that focus and positivity is all that's needed is a false and slightly misguided statement. There are many different products on the internet that promise to help you in your search for the truth behind the book, but unfortunately some of these again are false and merely want to part you from your money.

So how can you find a good one? Well the best way to do this is to research the theory offered by the product if it has some basis in science then it is likely a good choice. For instance there is the psychological theory of EFT. EFT is the theory of tapping certain points on the body to achieve different and varying effects. It has roots in acupuncture, which western medicine is quickly recognizing as real science with real medical benefits. The tapping of the different is done by yourself for a few minutes a day.

The principle theory is that you can associate good things by tapping the positive parts and get rid of negative stuff by tapping the corresponding part. Whilst this on its own won't be an effective tool, but when use in conjunction the possibilities become endless. The theories in the Secret combined with this would be a very effective combination. Dr Joe Vitale and Brad Yates have already done the hard work for and combined the two systems together. Take a look at their theory here:

11 Laws of the Secret

If you have read the Secret then you probably know all about the law of attraction and how to attract all of the things you want from it. The book does a great job of promising things will come to you if you just have a little faith in yourself and retaining a positive outlook. If you keep smiling and focusing on the thing you want even when you are at your lowest point then it will come. Whilst this is perfectly correct in principle and is a part of the law of attraction, it is only a very basic outline. Similar to reading the synopsis on the back of a book and thinking that you have read the book.

The law stated in the Secret is just one law nothing more nothing less, but the true law of attraction is made up of many intricate and inter weaving laws. When they are put all together they make up the real and true law of attraction. Which is why so many people, myself included, walked away from the Secret with our hopes lifted and belief that our dreams could be realised. What we ended up with was half the story, which when we tried to implement didn't work turning us quickly into disbelievers.

One of the biggest grudges most have about the Secret is the vagueness in terms of time. According to the book you can focus on the same thing for many years without any joy, 'because the universe doesn't work on same time scale'. When you look at this concept objectively you end up with something like this, 'Okay, so I can have what I want if I keep smiling and focusing on it, but I might be ninety-nine when I get it?'. Sounds stupid and a bit unfair. But when you look at just the Secret and nothing else this is what you get.

Bob Proctor one of the main contributors to the Secret was some what annoyed at the final publications of the book and accompanying DVD, so he took matters into his own hands. He came up with the 'Forgotten Laws'. These act as a booster for the Secret, they delve more deeply into the ideas giving you a fuller more rounded picture of how to make your dreams become real. They also get rid of most of the vagueness surrounding time and teach you how to have some influence over the timing of your manifesting. You can find it here:

How to remember the 'Forgotten Laws'

Bob Proctor was one of the main contributors to Rhonda Byrne's 'The Secret'. His snippets in the book were probably some of the most important. Rather than really on the spiritual side of the concept, Bob Proctor used a more scientific approach. Such as 'Why do you think that 1 percent of the population earns around 96 percent of all the money that's being earned? Do you think that's an accident?', Bob Proctor. His voice in the book lends itself to a sceptical layman and how they would feel at being explained this strange yet alluring piece of literature.

In current times the 'Law of Attraction' is perhaps more needed than ever, but also probably not particularly believed in. The economic downturn has effected everyone in one way or another. So its understandable that people would be reluctant to believe in a theory that promises them an abundance of their desires, especially wealth. The instructions outlined in 'The Secret' are good but unfortunately many feel that they weren't quite enough or weren't as detailed as they could have been. Bob Proctor has rectified that with his own literature.

He has written a publication entitled 'The Forgotten Laws'. His version isn't the watered down version that the DVD or book was, but a much more detailed and fleshed out version. He uses various different laws that amalgamate into one law, the 'Law of Attraction'. When these laws are read and learnt they make the transition into an expert abundance attractor smooth and easy. You will begin to realise just how much affect your outlook has on the world around you. Bob Proctor makes this transition with his trademark easy to understand language.

To be exact there are 11 forgotten laws. These are recorded on an audio disc and transcripted in a book. Bob's theory is that you can learn these laws in just one hour a day, you can do it in your lunch break or just before you go to sleep. You can find it here:
